The Last Five Years
by Jason Robert Brown
Produced by Dizzy Heights
The Last Five Years is a contemporary song-cycle musical that chronicles the five year life of a marriage, from meeting to break-up ... or from break-up to meeting, depending on how you look at it.
Written by Jason Robert Brown (Parade, Songs For A New World), The Last Five Years is an intensely personal look at the relationship between a writer and an actress told from both points of view.
The story explores a five-year relationship between Jamie Wellerstein, a rising novelist, and Cathy Hiatt, a struggling actress. Cathy's story is told in reverse order (beginning at the end of the marriage), and Jamie's is told in chronological order (starting just after the couple have met). The live band consists of two cellos, a violin, bass, acoustic guitar and piano.
Dizzy Heights return to musical theatre with a new production focusing on the beauty and emotion at the heart of the story, and bringing it exhilaratingly to life.
