Can You See Me Yet? by Timothy Findley
Directed by Joanna Turner
Produced by Darren Batten for Language Laid Bare Productions

1938, a world about to go mad with war; an asylum for the insane seems to offer sanctuary for its patients, but as Cassandra Wakelin stands in the heart of the asylum, confusing her fellow inmates with members of her own ill-fated family, we are forced to ask the question, 'Can anyone find sanctuary anywhere?'

'a play of exquisite perception, vivid characterisations and a sombre wit'

Timothy Findley

Moll Flanders by Daniel Defoe
adapted by Brute Farce

Following sell-out performances in May and a national tour Moll Flanders returns to the Jack in July.

First appearing in 1722, Moll Flanders is the English novel's first leading female character but 300 years later her obsession with social mobility, trading her looks and guile for advancement through marriage, invites clear parallels with the current fascination with celebrity, vanity and the W.A.G phenomenon.

With large helpings of modern mayhem and a generous sprinkling of satire, eighteenth century England is ingeniously re-invented in a wickedly outrageous adaptation from one of England's most exciting young theatre companies. This show is a melting-pot of style which simmers and spits with biting wit and caustic humour. This production is suitable over 14s.
